Over the past 10 years the Waste Management Sector has seen many changes, primarily through legislation, for instance the introduction of the term “Hazardous Waste” and its’ application to items such as Monitors, Fridges and Fluorescent tubes. The Hazardous Waste Premise Registration for sites which have collections of Hazardous Waste over 500Kg per annum, Landfill Directive with Pre-acceptance Criteria and much more. The most recent legislation are the "Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011" (came into force March 29th 2011) and in particular Regulation 12 (due to come into force on the 28th September 2011) states all waste-streams need to have applied the Waste Hierarchy (see illustration below).
